Fine Arts.
In the Prado district, the Academy of Fine Arts, founded in 1744, is home to several paintings, sculptures, drawings and works of art dating from 1500 to 1900. There are works by the great painting masters such as Zurbarán, Cano, Goya. Contemporary works fro the XXth century are also featured, including canvases by Sorolla, Cecilio Plá, Vasquez Diaz etc… The collection was also enriched by the addition of several paintings bequeathed by Fernando Guittarte, such as the famous Still life with oranges and lemons by Juan de Zurbarán and The Self-portrait by Francisco Bayeu.
